Parachute Writing

Angie G

My parachute floated when they dropped it. My parachute is made out of a bag, a cup, and some string. It was fun making it. Some parts my dad helped me. I watched to see which one is my favorite, but I haven't decided yet. I loved watching them float. It was awesome. My parachute broke because is was really fragile. Some parachutes broke.

Anthony

It has 4 strings. My parachute is light. I have to hold the egg so it can fly better. When Mrs. Lewis called me, my parachute went into the bushes. It turned upside down because it did not have enough air.

Carlos

Today me and my class saw all of the second graders outside because we had to make parachutes with eggs. I made mine out of a paper bag, some string, and a cup. Mrs. Lewis and Mr. B. threw our parachutes that we made. The brightest parachute was Annais' because she used balloons. Mrs. Lewis threw mine off of the school roof. My egg made a little crack. The wind blew my parachute onto the sidewalk. It didn't enough wind to make it safer.

Alyssa

Annais had balloons. When hers came down her egg didn't break because when it was in the air it was floating. When it hit the ground the balloon popped. That's why the egg did not break.

Mauricio

I used a basket to carry the egg safely and balloons to make it slower because the slower, the safer. it landed safely because the wind was not too fast and not too slow. It did it because the wind, safety, balloons, basket, and gravity. You see the wind made it go down. The basket was for safety. The safety was so it would not break. Gravity made it come down to earth.

Evan

My parachute had strings, a cup, a little bag, and an egg. It floated down safely and did not break because it was secure. It had a cup so it would not fly out and break and it worked! It did not break, so I am keeping the egg as my reward forever. That will keep me happy.

Ariel

If it went slow then it was safe. When the egg landed on the grass it didn't crack. The paper bag didn't work, only the string worked better because the weather made it stay up. It is called gravity that made it go down. The balloons worked too. The egg made it stay up. That is how it came down.

Jacolby

My parachute was made out of a plastic bag, a basket, and some wire. My parachute flew down too fast. It did not have enough air or gravity. My parachute flew down fast because it was not windy enough. The roof was kind of small, but it was cool when it fell down from the roof.

Leo

My parachute didn't break. I made my parachute with a paper bag and string. The egg was taped to the string. My parachute flew away very fast. My egg almost broke, but it didn't break. I was happy that my egg didn't break. Some of the eggs broke.

Jayia

The parachute fell down. Some of them fell down and cracked the egg. Some of them went slow, but the egg did not break. It was gravity because the wind blew the parachutes. If the parachute goes slow it will land more safely on the ground. The ones that went fast did not land safe on the ground.

Jocelyn

I got 1 plastic bag. I got a plastic cup. I put yellow string on the cup. I painted green, purple, gold, and brown. It flew on the roof then on the ground. It flew because the wind was blowing. Mrs. Lewis threw it up in the air. My cup had 4 strings and 4 holes. My parachute went slow.

Ethan

I saw some parachutes with eggs in the parachute. Some of the eggs fell out of the parachute. Some fell fast and some went slow. I liked Anthony's because he had purple on his parachute. Even though I had no parachute in it, I still liked it.

Egg Parachute Pictures

Mrs. McLaughlin, Mrs. Golden, and Mrs. White carried our parachutes outside in big buckets.

We waited patiently for Mrs. Lewis and Mr. B. to go onto the roof of the school.

We got to go get our parachute when it was our turn.

Some parachutes floated down slowly.

We had to chase some of parachutes to catch them.

A couple of us caught them in the air.

Sometimes they went in the bushes. Those were tricky to get out of the sticky bushes.

We got excited to see if our egg survived the fall or if it broke.

"Look! It didn't break!"

We watched a lot of parachutes fall off the roof to the ground.

Mrs. Lewis and Mr. B. dropped our parachutes one by one.

Another egg that didn't break!

We used lots of things to hold our egg, even peanut butter.

The cotton balls cushioned the egg so it didn't break.

It was fun to watch the different parachutes fall.

We used lots of different things to make our parachutes like plastic bags, string, balloons, cups, boxes, cotton balls, and baskets.

This parachute could also be worn as a hat.

Some parachutes were complicated.

Some were very simple.

We had some with decorations also.

This egg is happy he didn't break.

After we came inside we talked about our egg parachute experiment.

We made notes about what we learned.

We used our notes to write about our egg parachutes. Read our stories here.
